Art by Cazenovia College Student, Michael Rohr, Shown at Cazenovia McDonald's Restaurant

2012 May 23

The display case at McDonald's Restaurant in Cazenovia, N.Y. is regularly the site of work by students in Cazenovia College's Studio Art Program.

Michael Rohr, of Needham, Mass., who is majoring in visual communications, has work included in the most recent rotation, which will be on display until mid-July.

A series of photographs by Jenna Petrone, are in one display case. The photos were done for an assignment on creating composite photos, according to Neil Chowdhury, assistant professor and program director for the College's Photography Program. "Jenna had a lot of fun with this, and I think it shows in the photographs," he says of the display.

Petrone says, "When I created these four images for my Computer Imaging class, I realized that I found my niche in photography. Instead of searching for it and rushing into finding my own style, it simply came from my imagination and the desire to make the impossible possible through my Adobe Photoshop computer software. This project has taught how to be creative, how to be an individual, and how to cope though a difficult time in my life."

Several t-shirt designs promoting the Fourth of July Foot Race in Cazenovia are on display in another case. The designs were created in Professor Laurie Selleck's Digital Illustration class. Designs by Kiley Barr, Megan Buckner, Jamie Sciortino, and Michael Rohr were selected for display.

Selleck, professor and program director for the Visual Communications Program, says, "This project required the students to combine illustration with text and was limited to two colors, blue and red. Since it was a digital illustration class, all the type had to be hand-drawn, which most students did using a digital tablet."

Sciortino says, "I enjoyed working on this illustration mainly because it was for a community event full of feet and patriotism;" and Barr, who grew up in Cazenovia, noted, "Doing this project has given me a sense of pride in my community and has shown me the patriotism it possesses."
