Justin A. Briggs to Attend Human Services Conference

2011 Mar 30

Fourteen students from Cazenovia College will attend the Annual Mid-Atlantic Consortium for Human Services (MACHS), hosted by Corning Community College in Corning, N.Y. in early April. The conference is focused on "Supporting, Connecting and Strengthening Human Services in the 21st Century."

The students attend workshops throughout the day on a variety of topics related to their specializations. Two students are speakers and another will have a poster presentation at the conference. Professor Mary Handley, director of Cazenovia College's Human Services Program, says, "These students, presenters and attendees alike, are highly motivated to help improve the lives of their fellow human beings."

Among the students is Justin A. Briggs, of Chittenango, N.Y., a junior who is working toward a bachelor of science degree in human services specializing in alcohol and substance abuse.

Handley noted how important this conference can be to the future careers of her students, saying, "The conference not only provides a professional and learning experience for them; they are able to meet students from five different states who are all studying to be human services professionals. They will return from the conference motivated and energized to continue to make change and improve people's lives."
