Melissa Conklin Graduates from Cazenovia College

2012 Jun 8

Cazenovia College, an undergraduate liberal arts college in Central New York, honored the class of 2012 on May 12, 2012. Melissa A. Conklin, of Binghamton, N.Y., received a bachelor of fine arts degree cum laude in interior design.

Conklin is a member of The Junior 1824 Society and was on the spring semester Dean's List.

The Class of 2012 numbered more than 250 students. In addition to New York State, Cazenovia's 2012 graduates come from California; Colorado, Connecticut; Massachusetts; Maryland; New Hampshire; New Jersey; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; Tennessee and Vermont.

At a college where business, education and international studies are important themes, it is fitting that entrepreneur and advocate for education in developing countries, Ronald Bruder, addressed the graduates. Bruder was honored by TIME Magazine in 2011 as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the World. He founded Education for Employment (EFE), a network of nonprofits committed to creating employment opportunities for youth in the Middle East and North Africa.

Cecily "Cecie" Johnson Titcomb, of West Palm Beach, Fla., a 1968 Cazenovia College alumna, received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree. The recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Service Award was Dorothy Winner Riester, a nationally known sculptor who was one of the founders of the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation and a founder of Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia.
