Miranda Proctor to Display Seminar Achievements at Cazenovia College Art Gallery

2012 Dec 6

The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall will host the Annual First Year Seminar Exhibition, Dec. 10 through the end of the term. This eclectic exhibition features work by students in the Class of 2016. An opening reception is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., with refreshments sponsored by the First Year Program.

Miranda A. Proctor, of Auburn, N.Y., is a management major, and a member of Karen Steen's "Knitting: Functional Craft/Social Commentary," an exploration of the craft and social context of hand knitting. Students are exhibiting knitting projects they have completed this semester.

Proctor is a graduate of Skaneateles Central School, in Skaneateles, N.Y.

Students will show artwork and visual media reports on the work they have accomplished during their first year at Cazenovia College. The First Year Program integrates freshmen into the College's academic community, introducing them to the learning goals and resources provided by the College. The Program also works in cooperation with the Division of Student Development to provide students with co-curricular opportunities and fosters students' appreciation of the institutional core values: community, learning, diversity, integrity, accountability and tradition.

Each freshman enrolls in a seminar that most closely matches one of his or her interests. The seminar and other related activities serve to introduce students to peers who share the same interests, and to establish collegial relationships with faculty members.
